Terence Stern – Practice Lead

Terence Stern
Terence is a global executive with a proven record of entrepreneurial achievement in start-up, private equity, and publicly owned companies across a range of life science ventures in multiple international geographies.
Terence served as Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Vetbrands International. Vetbrands was a private equity backed management buyout of Ralston Purina’s pharmaceutical business. His lead role through the process enabled combination of Cargill owned assets with the independently owned pharmaceutical / R&D facility in Brazil. Successful orchestration of multiple acquisitions, the subsequent merger, integration, and growth led to sale of the top ten Brazilian animal pharmaceutical business to Ceva Santé Animale at the end of 2007.
In 2010 Terence led negotiation of the joint venture resulting in the first human supplement ingredient acquisition for Novus International. In Terence’s general management role Novus’s leading global nutrition specialty business profitably doubled sales through organic growth. His leadership resulted in approval of significant incremental investments including a dedicated production facility and bolt-on acquisition.
Terence has developed detailed investment theses and financial models for Neem clients and subsequently validated these with leading healthcare focused private equity firms. A recent example is development of a consolidation strategy for servicing a range of diagnostic imaging modalities.
Terence has demonstrated the ability to solve complex business challenges in collaboration with highly technical life science collaborators. His approach is logical, creative, and benefits from a broad perspective gleaned from conducting business in 26 countries over the course of his career. Terence is fluent in French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
He has his bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and a master’s degree in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
